What is the Oral Exam?

All students graduating from an ACTP program are required by the ICF to pass an oral exam as part of their Final Performance Evaluation.  It must be a 30 minute session, assessed against ICF competencies, graded by either a PCC or MCC and the student must demonstrate coaching at a PCC level. Your Mentor Coaching and previous Observed coaching will prepare you for this. Information is available in your learnsite.

If during that 30 minute performance evaluation you are not coaching at beginner PCC level, then the following policy applies:

Policy for Final performance Evaluation

  • Observed Coaching: If a student is not proficient by the second or third time he/she coaches in an observed coaching class then the student will be excused from the remaining classes and instructed to attend 3 additional 1-1 Mentor Coaching classes and retake the Observed Coaching Coaching.  A fee of $150 USD to apply to rejoin Observed Coaching

  • Oral Exam: If the student is proficient during the observed classes, but does not pass the Oral Assessment, then they can either

    -  attend 3 additional 1-1 Mentor Coaching classes and re-submit the oral assessment.  The fee for this is $150 USD
    or
    - attend an hour long one on one session with an ICA Assessor, who will review their oral exam result in more detail and provide direction, feedback and development specifically for the areas assessed as 'not competent' in the exam, and then resubmit the oral exam. The fee to the student is $300 USD.
